About Day Trading

Apr 30, 2012 at 3:07 pm in Day Trading by · Leave a Comment »

Position trading is not the only approach, and I have also talked previously about swing trading. You might have already deduced it, but the one significant omission in my coverage has been day trading.

Are China’s fortunes about to go pop?

Apr 27, 2012 at 2:43 pm in Market Commentary by City Insider · Leave a Comment »

Think back to when you were a child. You blew a bubble, it grew and eventually it burst. That’s how some of my former colleagues in Hong Kong are feeling about China’s prospects at the moment – something I experienced first hand last week.

Shall we play Bigger and Better?

at 2:25 pm in General Trading by · Leave a Comment »

I’ve been thinking about how feasible it would be to play a game of ‘bigger and better’ with spread bets. This would be quite the opposite of the highly diversified long-term position trading approach that I’m practising in my trading tail.

Binary Bets That Paid Off (and Ones That Didn’t)

Apr 25, 2012 at 12:37 am in Binary Trading by · Leave a Comment »

I was first attracted to binary betting due to its tax-free status (like spread betting, it’s classed as gambling rather than investing) but I wasn’t so keen on the fact that fixed-odds binary bets work rather like traditional financial options. In any case I’ve been dabbling in them.

Trading Influences: Michael Covel

Covel’s trend following book includes many real-life track records achieved by real-life successful trend-following traders, and the associated equity curves are instructive (for me)

All calm on the home front as Cameron heads east

ALL this talk about ‘plastic Brits’ representing Team GB at the Olympics got me thinking the other day. When I first started working in the City, it was all about pinstriped suits and the proverbial stiff upper lip but it now seems that Britain’s fortunes are firmly linked to the wider international community.
