Before we can begin discussing the ins-and-outs and the finer points of spread betting we will need an account at a spread betting firm. Two decent companies to open a sports spread betting account with are Sporting Index and Spreadex. Sporting Index are the biggest, they have the largest market share while Spreadex offer a good service and I love their attitude. The sign-up process is reasonably simple but I will walk you through it anyway!
Step 1: Go to Spreadex.
Step 2: Open an Account.
Step 3: Fill in your details – these are fairly straight forward questions concerning your personal information, address etc.
Step 4: Choose whether you want a deposit or credit account – A deposit account is when you deposit your funds into the account and gamble with that (exactly like traditional betting accounts). A credit account is where whenever you bet the funds are automatically withdrawn from your bank, so say you lost £20 this is withdrawn automatically and also if you won £100 this would be deposited in your account automatically. This is really just a matter of preference, some people prefer to have their sports betting money seperate from their bank while other people will prefer the convenience of not having to deposit/withdraw money from their account all the time.
Step 5: Confirm your details – Once you have filled out all of your information you will receive a confirmation call from Sporting Index themselves. This call normally comes within an hour of signing up but depending on what time you sign up it may take upto 24hours. During this phone call your account manager will just ask you to confirm your details. They do this to prevent fraud.
Step 6: Log in and enjoy – That's it you're in! If you have any problems during this whole process just give them a call they have an excellent customer service.
