How Mobile Gambling Has Changed The Betting Industry
Mobile gambling being introduced was a massive change in the betting landscape and improved the way sports fans reacted to sports betting. The user experience has seen a massive improvement in the wake of mobile gambling and I only expect this to improve over time. The improvement of technology was the sole reason why the sports betting industry has changed so much, with newer smartphones meaning you can bet from anywhere at any time.
Sports Betting
Sports betting as an industry has been the biggest part of betting over the last few years and it continues to grow in both player count and what you can bet on, this is one of the main reasons why sport betting is so popular because it’s always changing and growing, unlike a lot of other betting types. Mix this with the on the go betting that you get from your mobile and you can have core fans of sport clubs betting from the stadium or a bar while watching a game which is a luxury that physical shops can offer.
The Premier League is the most popular place to bet on with other sports like Tennis and basketball being left in the dust. The Premier League is a sport that garners a lot of viewers and a lot of attendees, so for players who watch football and want to be able to put a quick bet on, mobile betting allows you to do that from anywhere.
When I talk to my friends about betting, the main consensus is that they prefer any type of sports betting over the online casino side of betting sites but they would never go into a store to place a bet. This rings true for me too and the generation that is surrounding me. A lot less people would be interested in betting if online casinos weren’t a thing.
Online Casino
A large part of the market for betting goes into the vast world of online gambling. Whether it’s slots or poker, the market is still huge either way. After years of using real slot machines in the casino or elsewhere, the online casino dream is here with an unlimited amount of slot games being available from your fingertips, and now pay by phone slots are a popular choice for players so this means you can find the exact game you are after. So even if you are on your mobile device you do it all right in front of you.
The Problem With In-Person Betting
I have spoken a lot today about the ease and accessibility of mobile betting and this is quite the opposite from when there was no other choice but to go to the bookmakers and place a bet. Betting now is as easy as it has ever been with hundreds of apps being available and easy to use, this is a bit of an issue for the owners of said on-land shops, with fewer people coming in, there is less of a need for the store to exist and this could result in people losing jobs.
The Positives
However, one of the main things about the in-person shops is the loyal customers. A lot of the older generation of gamblers still go to the bookies and get their bets on physical bet slips because that’s how they have done it for their entire lives. I can’t see a world in which these people start to use online betting instead and if the shops do start to close, is it worth a bookmaker missing out on this business and risking them going to a potential competitor?
The Future Of Mobile Betting
I think that the future of mobile betting is a very positive one and in the long run, mobile betting will make the betting industry more money and improve how people bet. Because of the number of people who use a mobile phone and the large number of people who gamble, it feels like these can go hand in hand and as the technology improves around phones and online gambling also improves, we could see a lot of money being made by these companies.
